How online sessions work.

Expect a warm, judgment-free conversation. Early sessions focus on getting to know you, understanding what brings you in, and starting to shape goals together. You are always in control of what you share and how quickly you go.
The first session is mostly about understanding your story and what you would like to work on. Your clinician will ask questions, answer yours, and begin talking through a plan. There is no pressure to have everything figured out.
Many people begin weekly, then adjust as they make progress. Your clinician will recommend a rhythm based on your goals and needs, and you can revisit it over time.
Individual sessions are typically around 50 minutes. Your clinician will confirm the length when you schedule.
You and your clinician continue building on what you started: deepening understanding, practicing skills, and working toward your goals. Therapy is collaborative and adjusts as you go.
Sometimes. Many evidence-based approaches include practice between sessions, like trying a skill or noticing a pattern. It is always tailored to you, and you and your clinician decide together what is helpful.
Goals are set together, based on what matters to you. They can be specific or broad, and they can evolve. Your clinician will help translate what you are hoping for into a workable direction.

There is no set answer. Some people come for a focused period around a specific concern; others stay longer for ongoing support. You and your clinician will check in regularly about what is working.
That is completely normal and okay. Your clinician is skilled at helping you find a starting point, and some of the most meaningful sessions begin with “I’m not sure where to start.”
