Individual Therapy FAQ
What to expect from sessions.
Learn more →All of our care is delivered by secure video. Here is how telehealth works and what to expect.
You meet with your clinician by secure, HIPAA-compliant video from a private space of your choosing. Sessions look and feel much like in-person therapy: you talk, your clinician listens, and you work together toward your goals, just over a screen.
The main difference is the setting. You join from home or another private location instead of an office. Many people find it more convenient and just as personal once they settle in. Your clinician will help you get comfortable in the first session.
Research generally supports telehealth as an effective option for many common mental health concerns and evidence-based treatments. It is not the best fit for every person, condition, or situation. Your clinician will consider clinical needs, privacy, safety, technology, and personal preference when discussing whether telehealth is right for you.
Yes. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. We also recommend joining from a private space where you will not be overheard, and using headphones for added privacy.
A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, plus a reliable internet connection. That is it. Your clinician will send you a secure link to join.
Because our clinicians are licensed by state, you generally need to be physically located in a state where your clinician is authorized to practice at the time of your session. We currently serve Oregon, with select services in Nevada and New Jersey. We confirm your location as part of getting started.
Generally you need to be physically located in a state where your clinician is licensed at the time of the session. If you travel, let your clinician know in advance so you can plan around licensing requirements.
Some people do, when it is the most private option available. If you attend from a parked car, please do so safely and never while driving. A private, quiet space is ideal for getting the most from your session.
It happens occasionally. Your clinician will have a plan, often reconnecting by video or continuing by phone, so a technical hiccup does not end your session.
We currently provide care through telehealth. If in-person care is important for your situation, let us know and we can talk through options or referrals.
In some cases participants can join from different places, but this depends on the service, clinical appropriateness, and where each person is physically located. Your clinician will advise what works best for your situation.
