Spanish-Speaking & Culturally Responsive Therapy FAQ

Bilingual, bicultural care with Daisy and Nayely, who provide therapy in Spanish and English.

Do you offer therapy in Spanish?

Yes. Daisy and Nayely provide therapy in Spanish and English. You can choose the language that feels most comfortable for you.

Can therapy include both English and Spanish?

Yes. Many bilingual clients move fluidly between languages, and our bilingual clinicians can follow along in whatever combination feels natural to you.

Can parents speak Spanish while a child prefers English?

Yes. Our bilingual clinicians can work with families where members prefer different languages, which is common in bilingual households.

Do you work with immigrant and first-generation experiences?

Yes. Both Daisy and Nayely have particular focus and lived understanding of immigrant and first-generation experiences, including the pressures that can come with building a life between cultures.

What does culturally responsive therapy mean?

It means your clinician actively considers how your culture, identity, and background shape your experiences, and adapts care to honor them rather than treating everyone the same.

What does culturally informed treatment mean?

Culturally informed treatment brings awareness of cultural context into the work, so that your values, family dynamics, and community are understood as part of your story rather than overlooked.

Do I have to teach my therapist about my culture?

No. Our bilingual, bicultural clinicians bring their own understanding and stay curious about your specific experience. You are always the expert on your own life, but the burden of educating your therapist is not on you.

Can therapy address acculturation and family expectations?

Yes. Acculturation stress and navigating family and cultural expectations are common and welcome topics, and areas our bilingual clinicians focus on.

Can therapy support identity and belonging?

Yes. Questions of identity and belonging, including cultural identity, are central to the work many clients do here.

Do you provide LGBTQIA+-affirming care?

Yes. Daisy provides LGBTQIA+-affirming care, offering an inclusive, nonjudgmental space for all identities.

How do you avoid making assumptions about a client’s culture?

By staying curious and letting you define your own experience. Culture is personal and varies within any community, so our clinicians ask rather than assume, and adjust as they learn more about what matters to you.
